We worked with our days of the week vocab again today. We did a listening activity and a writing activity. Then I passed out the mini-project for this unit, it's a "wheel" summarizing the days of the week, months of the year and seasons in French. We will slowly do this in three separate parts and it will be finished after we are back from break. Today, students added their name and the days of the week to their "wheel", colored it and added some personal creativity with things they enjoy.

We worked with numbers 0-20 again today. We started with a round of vingt. Then we did a card game similar to war "la guerre" where they had to add their card amount with their partners amount and say the correct answer in French to win the cards. Then they completed lecon C pg 31 numbers worksheet. This is homework if they didn't finish.

Then students worked with a partner and did an activity with dice where they had to add the face of the dice together and say the answer in French to get the point. Then they completed a worksheet and turned it in if they finished it or it's homework if they didn't. Tomorrow we will add on numbers 11-20.

We wrapped up our Salutations unit today. Students completed a short worksheet using our vocab. Then they had a short conversation using our vocab. Half of the students rotated around the room having the conversation with a different person every 30 seconds.

We worked with our French alphabet and accent marks today. I collected the homework accent worksheet if they didn't turn it in yesterday. Then we listened to our songs. Then I spelled 6 words for them and they wrote them down. Then they practiced spelling their French first name with three people. Lastly, they played hangman in French where they had to ask for the letters using the French alphabet.

About half the class was significantly late due to the weather and late busses. So we worked with our basic French vocab words versus starting the French alphabet and accent marks today. Students were given a wordsearch using their basic French vocab words where they had to write the English and find the French word. This is homework if they didn't finish.

We worked with our months of the year today. We took notes on numbers 21-31 so we could give any date and students practiced asking and answering when their birthday was. Students completed Devoir #31 - writing the months in French and the months section on the back. Then they completed a months worksheet I gave them and then had time to add some of the months to their wheel. Each month should have a picture representing what that month means to them.

Students practiced asking and answering what their name is. Then they completed a half sheet paper with various situations on it and they had to determine how they would respond in French. A few students had to complete their speaking alphabet assessment today so we did that first. Then I collected and worksheets from Friday if students didn't turn them in then. Next, we took the first page of notes on our new unit "Salutations" (Greetings). We repeated our words and students had a mini conversation using different greetings and closings. We also watched a short video using this vocab and a short cultural video on "la bise" the cheek to cheek kiss greeting used in French speaking countries. We will continue with this tomorrow.

While others were assessing, they completed two worksheets - one on accent marks and the other on our basic French vocab words. We worked with colors again today. We used some flags of French speaking countries to practice saying the colors. Then we used our color cards. Lastly we played "un" (uno) using our colors and numbers. Ask your student how to say the special cards in French. We had a lot of fun with this today!

We worked with our salutations vocab one last day today. I displayed some various situations and students responded to how they would be in those situations with a partner. We finished our notes on our Salutations unit today by learning how to ask and answer "How are you?" We watched a short video clip on this vocab. Then students worked with a partner to answer how they were based on some pictures I put on the board. Then they completed a written practice that I gave them and we went over it before they left.

We worked with our French alphabet today. I played the two songs and then I practiced spelling words for them using the French alphabet and accent marks. Then they practiced spelling their first name using the French alphabet. Lastly, they worked with a partner to play hangman but had to use the French alphabet while playing.

We spoke about Mardi Gras, which is coming up March 5th and we will be celebrating Fat Tuesday in class by learning about the holiday and how it's celebrated in the Francophone world. Student have the chance to purchase croissants from Benny's Bakery in Saline anytime between now and next Monday. The flavors are plain, chocolate, strawberry cream cheese, blueberry cream cheese, apple and nutella with nuts. The plain are $2 each and the flavors are $2.25 each. Students can bring the money in anytime between now and Monday, which is when I need to place the order with the bakery.
