Then they individually completed a worksheet practicing their months of the year. Then I gave them a "wheel" which will be a mini-project we do this week. We used our Salutations vocab to practice answering how we are. Students used scenarios I had up on the board to say how they would feel in that situation. Then we did a little "petite conversation" where students had a mini conversation with half of their classmates all in French! Lastly, they completed 4 sections of a worksheet which we will check tomorrow. This is homework if they didn't finish.

Then students individually completed pg 48 #1. Then they received a "wheel" type picture that will become a mini-project and summarize our days of the week, months of the year and seasons. Today they added their name to their wheel and the days of the week. We will continue to add to this wheel over the next week or so.

I also showed them a cultural video about "la bise" the cheek to cheek kiss they use in the French culture when they greet each other. Today I collected the syllabus from students that had them signed - they are officially due on Monday. Students filled out an information sheet for me so I could learn more about them and their interests. Then I had students try to duplicate a paper construction that I had created and we had a conversation about why I would have them do such an activity and how it pertained to French/School/Life. Tomorrow we will be choosing French first names if students want to.

We wrapped up our coloring unit with a little competition. Students selected and completed a French color by number picture. My 8th graders will vote on the pictures early next week. Tomorrow we will begin a unit on days, months and family members.

We wrapped up our Salutations unit. Students created a short conversation and then practiced it with a partner. Then they did the front side of the "French Greetings" worksheet and turned it in when they were finished. If they didn't finish, it's homework.

We continued with our Salutations (Greetings) vocab today and finished all of our new words. Students practiced having short conversations with each other by greeting each other, asking their name and asking how they are. We will continue to work with this for most of the week.

I collected their syllabus sheets if they had them signed last night. They are officially due on Monday. Then students selected French first names if they wanted one. Then they practiced saying "My name is..." using their first name with their classmates.

I played our 2 songs for "La Manie Musicale de Mars" and the voting will open Monday. This is our equivalent of March Madness but with French music, students created brackets and will vote each day on their favorite until we have a song champion for our classes.

They are $2.25 for the apple, strawberry cream cheese, blueberry cream cheese or chocolate ones and the plain ones are $2.00. All orders need to be placed and paid for by next Monday.
